HOW IT WORKS
A blood trail may disappear, but that doesn't mean the trail is over. Trained tracking dogs can follow the scent left behind by a wounded deer, even when there is little or no visible blood. South Carolina Tracking Dogs helps hunters find independent, vetted tracking teams across the state.

BRYAN GOODWIN
"I didn’t set out to become a deer tracker. It started when my daughter shot a nice 10-pointer that we couldn’t recover. She was heartbroken, and when I found that buck weeks later, it lit a fire in me to learn how to track. I’ve always had an eye for trails, blood, and how a deer reacts, but that moment gave it purpose. Since then, I’ve tracked for friends, neighbors, and strangers—and it never gets old seeing the relief when we recover a deer that seemed lost."

"My journey into tracking began after I lost what would have been my biggest public-land buck. At the time, tracking dogs weren’t widely known, and I couldn’t find anyone to help. The shame and frustration of leaving that deer behind nearly made me quit hunting. So, I did what any not-so-normal person would do—I started watching YouTube, bought a Bluetick Coonhound, and began learning everything I could. Along the way, I met Bryan Goodwin, who took me under his wing and allowed me to tag along on countless tracks. Bryan had already started South Carolina Tracking Dogs, and I was fortunate to join him. Together, we have worked to grow it into the statewide network it is today so hunters know where to turn when they need help."
